Our Governing Body

Yvonne Alexis has been a committee member with Yorkhill Housing Association since 2019, and was the Treasurer, and Chair of the Governance and Finance Committee from 2022-2023. After the 2023 AGM, Yvonne was elected as Chair of Yorkhill Housing Association.

Prior to retirement, Yvonne ran her own catering business, and has in the past been Business & Finance Director of a Scottish charity.  In addition she has a range of experience across business and charitable sector agencies, including chairing Cruse Bereavement Care Glasgow and membership of the Childrens Panel.

As a former tenant of Yorkhill and a council tenant in the past, Yvonne has experience of housing issues from both sides of the fence.

Mic is a retired Transport Planner with over forty years experience in both the Public and Private Sector. He joined the Management Committee in 2022. Mic is a born and bred Glaswegian, growing up in the tenements on the other side of Kelvingrove Park. He and his wife also lived in Yorkhill for five years. Mic is keen to enhance the community spirit in Yorkhill and is establishing links with other community groups in the area.

Following the AGM in 2023 Mic was elected as Treasurer, and became our Vice-Chair in 2025.

Billy joined our Committee in 2010, and also currently serves as our Secretary. While now retired, Billy had worked for a long time in engineering and he still shows a particularly keen interest in any of the more technical discussions at meetings, such as the activities of the Property Services team. Aside from meetings, Billy is often keen to learn more at conference or training opportunities, and enjoys getting out and about in the local area.

Colin has served on the Association’s Management Committee for 14 years, and also serves on the Governance and Finance Sub-Committee. A property valuer by profession, Colin has an excellent understanding of the public sector and housing environments and is well-equipped to provide oversight on financial matters and ensure the Association spends its money wisely. Colin is committed to using his knowledge and experience to help the Association continue to provide high-quality, affordable homes while ensuring its assets are managed effectively for the benefit of current and future residents.

As Yorkhill’s Councillor for more than thirty years, Malcolm was always keenly aware of the importance of a secure affordable home. He helped found Yorkhill HA almost fifty years ago back in 1977 and has stayed ever since, to assist Yorkhill to become and remain an environment and a community where anyone would be proud to live.

This makes him our longest-serving member, and he also served as Chair for 5 years between 2018-2023.

Malcolm was a University Lecturer and an elected member of Glasgow Corporation, Strathclyde Regional Council and Glasgow City Council. His experience in senior management, equalities and regeneration has provided valuable support to the Management Committee over the years.

Mark is an experienced project manager in housing and regeneration, having worked in many different aspects of the sector and directly alongside housing associations. This has given Mark a very strong background in understanding and ensuring compliance across all areas of activity. Since stepping up to fill a vacancy on the Committee in late 2025, Mark has shown great commitment to the values of the Association and a great keenness to get involved.

Christy is one of the local councillors for the Anderston/City/Yorkhill Ward and also serves as Deputy Lord Provost for Glasgow City Council. Christy’s role as a councillor is a key driver for her desire to be involved with the Committee, as she seeks to understand more about the crucial role housing plays in the overall health of the area and to ensure the right questions are being asked to ensure that residents’ needs are being met by the Association. She has experience with many different committees and is well acquainted with how public bodies such as the Association should operate within a highly regulated environment.

Angus is one of the local councillors for the Anderston/City/Yorkhill Ward and also leads the city’s drive towards net-zero, with additional involvement in transport, climate and city centre regeneration. Angus brings valuable local knowledge, community experience and a strong commitment to improving housing and neighbourhood services. He has also worked closely with residents, community groups and public services to understand local priorities, listen to concerns and help deliver positive change.

Thomas joined the Committee in a temporary role in early 2026, and was formally elected at the AGM later that year. Thomas’ family are originally from Partick, and he attended both school and university in the West End before becoming a resident in Yorkhill in 2018. He has 10 years’ experience as a financial compliance professional, and aside from work enjoys golf, classic films and science fiction. By being elected for a full term, Thomas hopes to continue representing the Association’s residents, bringing his crucial voice from a residents’ perspective to ensure that Committee’s business is aligned with the needs and views of local people.

Rachel is a local resident who has been filling a temporary role on the Committee since December 2025. Rachel actively works on community-focused initiatives and has a particularly keen focus on mental health, and is always keen to provide the residents’ perspective and ensure that Committee business remains tenant focused.

James works at a senior level elsewhere in the housing sector and has therefore been able to bring his professional insight to discussions, as well as strong strategic insight and a genuine commitment to understanding residents' interests and helping the Association provide the best possible homes and services for everyone.

Jennifer joined us in June 2025 as a casual vacancy, bringing with her professional business knowledge due to her career.

She first moved to Glasgow 11 years ago as a student and ended up staying after graduation. Jennifer is very fond of the West End area in general and is glad to now be part of our Committee and able contribute to the local community.

Philip joined our Committee at the 2026 AGM. Having attained his tertiary degree from Strathclyde University, Philip has been a resident within the Yorkhill area for over 30 years. He has over 20 years’ experience as a procurement specialist within a large global corporation as well as being a lean six sigma practitioner. Aside from work, Philip loves sports, theatre and reading. He loves the area he lives in and hopes to add value by serving local residents through membership of the Management Committee.

Having lived in the area for the past ten years, Isabelle is passionate about supporting the local community and helping ensure the Association continues to thrive. In her role as a Climate Change Data Officer, she leads on data analysis and reporting to bring strong analytical and communication skills. Isabelle looks forward to contributing to effective governance and high-quality services for residents.
