Yorkhill Housing Association unveils new five-year VISION
News
The VISION framework is built around six key commitments:
- Visible in the community
- Inclusive and fair
- Safe and secure homes
- Investing in our future
- Open and accountable
- Not-for-profit, for people
The Strategic Business Plan outlines a number of major priorities, including plans to grow the Association to 500 homes through targeted acquisitions and redevelopment opportunities, investment in modern technology and digital services, continued support for tenants facing cost of living pressures, and further development of community facilities such as the Overnewton Street Community Centre.
Approved following extensive engagement with staff and the Management Committee, the plan introduces a new framework known as Yorkhill's VISION, bringing together the Association's purpose, values and strategic priorities into a single statement that will guide decision-making over the next five years. The plan also places a strong emphasis on maintaining affordable rents, improving energy efficiency, supporting tenant safety, strengthening governance, and ensuring the Association remains financially resilient while continuing to deliver high-quality local services.
Grant Kennedy, Deputy Chief Executive, said:
This Business Plan sets out a clear direction for the next five years and reflects both our history and our ambitions for the future. The VISION framework gives us a simple way of explaining what matters most to Yorkhill and how we will continue to deliver for our tenants and the wider community.
Tony Mallaghan, Chief Executive, said:
As we approach our 50th anniversary in 2027, this plan builds on almost five decades of community ownership, local accountability and investment in Yorkhill. It outlines how we will continue to improve homes and services, invest in our people, strengthen our community presence and remain focused on delivering value for money for our tenants.

50 Years of local services
Yorkhill Housing Association was established in 1977 by local residents seeking to improve housing conditions in the area and today owns 472 homes and provides factoring services to a further 490 properties. The new plan sets out how the Association intends to build on that legacy while responding to the challenges and opportunities facing the housing sector over the coming years.

The launch of this Strategic Business Plan comes at an exciting time for Yorkhill Housing Association. In August 2027, we will celebrate our 50th anniversary, marking half a century since a group of local residents came together to improve housing conditions and protect Yorkhill’s tenement homes for future generations. That commitment to community ownership, local accountability and improving people’s lives remains at the heart of everything we do today.
As we approach this significant milestone, our new VISION provides a clear direction for the future. While much has changed since 1977, our purpose remains the same: to provide high-quality homes and services for the Yorkhill community. This Strategic Business Plan sets out how we will build on the achievements of the past fifty years while continuing to invest in our homes, support our tenants and strengthen our community for the decades ahead.
Modernising Yorkhill Housing Association
Alongside the new Business Plan, we have also refreshed the way Yorkhill Housing Association looks and communicates. This builds on work already carried out through our Customer Experience Policy and brings together a more consistent use of colours, fonts, templates and document styles across the Association.
The aim is simply to make our information clearer, more recognisable and easier to use, while giving Yorkhill a more modern and consistent look. This sits alongside other recent changes, including our new website and customer portal, and helps make sure that the way we present ourselves reflects the service we want people to experience.
